Forklift truck lights can significantly increase operator visibility in the warehouse, improving safety in the process. However, with different types of lights on the market, it can be difficult to know which to choose. Read on to learn about the difference.
There are two main types of lights to choose from: Halogen and LED.
Halogen Lights
These have been the standard lighting method for many years and still work well in the consumer car market. However, unlike forklift trucks, cars have a more sophisticated suspension system.
Unfortunately, halogen lights have their drawbacks. Specifically, they can be easily damaged due to the rough application they are used in.
The alternative to this is LED lighting.
LED Lights
LED (light emitting diode) lights are very efficient and consume little power. They produce a whiter looking light, which gives operators better visibility when driving.
The added bonus is that those in the working environment will be able to see the moving forklift truck more easily. Often forklifts operate in low light environments, so this is a great additional safety feature.
LED lights often have multiple smaller diodes within the light, which means that if one of the lights fail, there will be little difference in visibility.
A key thing to remember about both bulbs is that in certain environments, if a halogen bulb fails, it can actually put a truck out of operation.
