HOW TO CHARGE YOUR ELECTRIC FORKLIFT BATTERY ?

Updated: Dec 8, 2020

Charging your battery properly plays a huge role in it’s life because it can either make it last a long time or cut the life of it short.

On average all lead acid batteries have around 2,500 cycles.

What is a cycle you might ask?

A cycle consist of a full discharge, and a full charge. Any time you connect the battery to a charger you take one cycle away from the battery whether you left it charging for 5 minutes, 3 hours, or 8 hours.

Once the batteries have reached the 2,500 cycles their performance will start to drop, and the charge will last less and less.

I want to give you a couple of tips to extend the life of your battery..

Let it charge completely to 100% for maximum life cycle.Let it cool down properly after you charge it.Use the battery up to 20% charge then put it to charge again.Water the battery periodically depending on your application.

These 4 tips will help you improve the life of your battery.

The proper time to water your battery is after you just charged it, because watering it before will cause the acid to boil and spill in your floor, and it will create corrosion in your battery compartment, damage any cables or hoses below your battery, damage your wheels and tires, and damage & stain your floor.

Any time you are going to disconnect your battery please ensure you hit the stop button in your charger to avoid burning a fuse.
